Robbie Robinson Hutchens is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is a therapeutic consultant and mental health advocate in middle Tennessee.
Over the last 20 years Robbie has developed a special interest in serving complex children and their families. She has sought ongoing training to address the unique needs of children and adults who are intellectually gifted, twice exceptional, learning disabled, and developmentally delayed. She has successfully collaborated with parents, school systems, daycare facilities, and health care professionals to assess and address the nuanced needs that often accompany children and adults with these profiles.
Though Robbie relished her role as a clinician from 2007-2021, her private practice is now closed. Robbie will focus her passion and expertise as therapeutic consultant and advocate for these populations.
Robbie has co-authored two edited book chapters on supporting the needs of exceptionally gifted students with Dr. Martha Morelock. The chapter, "More Is Different: Understanding and Engaging the Exceptionally Gifted Child," was published in the Handbook for School Counselors Serving Students with Gifts and Talents in 2011. Ms. Hutchens and Dr. Morelock updated and expanded their original chapter in the second edition published in August, 2021.
